Satyam fraud: All 10 accused found guilty

Hyderabad, April 9: A special court today pronounced all the 10 accused in the Satyam scam guilty today. In the last hearing on March 9, special judge BVLN Chakravarthi had assured, "On April 9, the judgment will be pronounced. I am making it very clear. April 9 will be the final date for the verdict. No question of further adjournments. Court will not wait."

Considered to be the country's largest scam, the fraud came to light when the company's founder and the then Chairperson B Ramalinga Raju reportedly confessed that he had manipulated the company's account books to the tune of crores across the years. He was arrested just 2 days later by Andhra Pradesh Police's crime investigation department.

Along with him, his brother and the then MD to Satyam-Rama Raju, former chief financial officer Vadlamani Srinivas, former PwC auditors Subramani Gopalakrishnan and T Srinivas, Raju's another brother B Suryanarayana Raju, former employees G Ramakrishna, D Venkatpathi Raju and Ch Srisailam and Satyam's former internal chief auditor V S Prabhakar Gupta were also arrested.

Close to 3,000 documents and 226 witnesses were produced in the 6 years of trial. All of them were charged with offences related to cheating, criminal conspiracy, forgery and breach of trust.
