Sasikala to eat jail food, share cell with two women

The judge Ashwath Narayana however rejected all demands while indicating that no VIP treatment will be accorded to her.

Convicted AIADMK interim general secretary Sasikala Natarajan will have to eat jail cooked food and share the barracks with two women. A request for an AC cell too has been rejected by the court. Sasikala had a list of demands including home-cooked food, a helper as well as an AC room.

Judge Ashwath Narayana however rejected all demands while indicating that no VIP treatment will be accorded to her. Sasikala in court had asked the judge if she could be lodged in the barrack next to the one Jayalalithaa was lodged in 2015. However, this was a decision left to the prison authorities, the judge said.

Jail authorities too decided to follow the manual strictly in this case. "We can provide her facilities that are available as per the rule-book, jail officials informed.

• 24-hour running water
• Television
• Walking space
• Western commode

What was not:

• An AC room
• Home-cooked food
• Separate barrack next to Jayalalithaa's
