Two days after Income Tax officers raided the premises of Jaya TV and other properties linked to jailed AIADMK leader VK Sasikala and recovered Rs 1,430 crore undisclosed income, I-T sleuths are likely to question her in jail.
The raids were conducted at 187 places under 'Operation Clean Money,' by a team of 1,800 IT officials.
The raids were carried out based on complaints about shell companies, dubious investments, fund flow and fudging of accounts by Jaya TV, started by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and currently controlled by the family of Sasikala. Raids were also conducted in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi.
According to a PTI report, to a question on the nature of undisclosed income, the official said this relates to unexplained cash and unexplained cash introduced for acquiring several businesses. The issue of shell companies was a separate matter, he said, but did not elaborate.
