Sachin Tendulkar opens account, finally attends Rajya Sabha
Tendulkar and Bollywood actress Rekha have worst attendance among the nominated members to the Upper House.
After much clamour and criticism over his Parliament attendance, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar finally attended Rajya Sabha on Thursday. This is the first time Tendulkar is attending the Rajya Sabha in the ongoing Monsoon Session.
Sachin Tendulkar and boxer Mary Kom were present in Rajya Sabha after Samajwadi Party MP Naresh Agarwal had questioned absence of nominated members from the Upper House of the Parliament on Tuesday.
Though Tendulkar attended the proceedings, he was passive at best, and didn't ask any questions either.
Tendulkar and Bollywood actress Rekha have worst attendance among the nominated members to the Upper House.
As on 31st March 2017, Sachin attended only 23 of the 348 days since his nomination while Rekha attended only 18 of the 348 days. Among nominated members, Sambhaji Raje (97%) had the best attendance followed by Swapan Das Gupta (90%).

But, Tendulkar was far better than Rekha when it came to asking questions. While Tendulkar has asked 22 questions so far, Rekha, on the other hand, has asked none. KTS Tulsi has asked most questions among nominated members.
There are 12 nominated members in the Rajya Sabha. While two other MPs were nominated in 2012 along with Tendulkar and Rekha, one was nominated in 2014 and the remaining seven were nominated in 2016.
