S Jaishankar: Take Donald Trump seriously
On relationship between India and China he said that, "Public persona of this relationship in my country is overly negative."
New Delhi, March 21: India's Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar on Tuesday stressed on not judging the United State President Donald Trump. He also asked people to take him seriously. While addressing a press conference he said, "There is a very well quoted remark about Donald Trump that the American people and the media took him literally, but not seriously. In case of Trump, I would say, don't rush to judgement. It is important to take him seriously."
He also said that today it is very much in our interest to build strong connectivity, in the widest possible sense with all our neighbours. On relationship between India and China he said that, "Public persona of this relationship in my country is overly negative. We should make greater effort at getting the more balanced picture and creating a more balanced picture as well."
He
further
added
that,
"Nothing
has
globalised
more
than
terrorism,
yet
responses
to
it
remains
very
tactical,
national
and
therefore
remains
very
limited."
Jaishankar
had
last
month
visited
the
US
for
talks
with
Trump
administration.
He
had
discussed
with
the
US
officials
about
safety
of
Indians
in
the
US
following
the
Kansas
bar
shooting.
He
also
talked
about
new
legislation
which
made
tough
for
companies
to
replace
American
employees
with
foreign
employees.
During his visit to the US he met acting deputy secretary of state Tom Shannon and other US officials. During his meeting he discussed about issues related to security, counter-terrorism and defence partnership.
