Nagaur, Mar 13: In an attempt to attract more youth towards its ideology, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has finally decided to do a makeover in its dress code.

The traditional khaki shorts worn by RSS swayamsevaks will now be replaced by brown-coloured trousers. The decision in this regard was taken in a right-wing group's meeting at Rajasthan's Nagaur district.

RSS swayamsevaks will now wear brown-coloured pants.

The speculations were rife that such a move is in the offing and finally senior RSS leader Bhaiyaji Joshi made the official announcement on Sunday.

"Trousers are more common in normal life.We are people who move with times. So we had no hesitation(change in dress code)," said Bhaiyyaji Joshi.

"Senior RSS leaders suggested change in uniform to attract youth. No scientific thought behind new dress. Need to change with times," he further added.

"A change in uniform is very much on the agenda of Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS), the highest decision-making body of RSS, which is meeting in Nagaur from March 11," Manmohan Vaidya, All India Prachar Pramukh of the RSS had earlier told media persons.

The issue of change in uniform, which was taken up in a meeting of ABPS in 2010, was deferred till 2015 due to a lack of consensus, he said, adding "the apex body may take a decision on the same in the upcoming meeting."

RSS members currently sport khaki shorts and white full- sleeve shirts folded up to the elbow, besides black caps, as part of their 'ganvesh'.
