RSS leader Indresh Kumar and 75 others to participate in Haifa centenary celebrations in Israel

New Delhi, July 23: Organisations associated with executive member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Indresh Kumar like Indo-Israel Friendship Forum (IIFF) and Forum for Awareness of National Security (FANS) will send 70-75 its members to Israel to participate in a programme to commemorate 100 years of freedom of Haifa from Turkish Control.

A formal invitation has also been sent to Union minister of state for external affairs Gen V K Singh to participate in this programme.

This is to recall that Teen Murti Square which was symbolically representing capturing of Haifa by the Indians cavalrymen under the British control on September 23, 1918.

One of the coordinator of the Programme and vice president of FANS R N Singh told OneIndia, "We are visiting the third largest city of Israel to participate in the centenary celebration of its merger with Israel. Indresh Kumar ji will be participating in it but we have also invited Gen V K Singh to be party of the celebration. His consent is awaited."

Mayor of the Haifa city will facilitate visitors during the celebration besides organising other programme in the city to mark the day. Singh said that Haifa Victory Day was celebrated for getting the city free from the Turkish control by the allied forces. Actually 900 cavalrymen with swords and spears belonging to Jodhpur, Mysore and Hyderabad got it free from the shackles of Turkish control. The hero of the victory was Major Dalpat Singh.

Organisations led by Indresh Kumar has been organising it at Teen Murti from very long time but for the centenary celebration, they will be visititing Haifa. Singh said that preparations for this programme have already started but it will also be celebrated here as well. People unable to make it to Israel will join the celebration here only.

During the last visit of Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to India, the name of Teen Murti Square changed to Haifa Square and road was named as Haifa Road.

Actually Teen Murti symbolised cavalry of Jodhpur, Mysore and Hyderabad. The Indian troop will go to Haifa on September 19, 2018 for the five-day celebration. Haifa city is the third largest city of Israel and the business hub which is around 90 kilometer from Tel Aviv with major businesses being run from there.
