Rijiju repeats Modi; blames Congress for all ills of Manipur
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the Congress government of Manipur for all the problems in the state.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed an election rally in Imphal, Manipur, on Saturday, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju held a poll meeting in Chandel on Monday.
Rijiju, like his 'boss' PM Modi, blamed the ruling Congress for all the ills plaguing the north eastern state. From militancy to lack of development in Manipur, the minister of state for home affairs told the crowd how the state suffered because of the 'policies' of the Congress.
"All the problems in Manipur and the northeast region are created by the Congress party. We are here to solve those problems," the minister was quoted by ANI. "Peace is the only mantra for development," he added.

Later, speaking to the media, the minister said militant organisations in Manipur are thriving due to the 70-year rule of the Congress. "They have ruined the state," added Rijiju. According to an estimate, more than four dozens militant groups operate in Manipur. Because of the militancy problem, the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act is in place in the state.
Like Modi, Rijiju also did not say anything about the ongoing economic blockade in the state. Modi, during his rally in Imphal, said that if the Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power in the state, it will remove the blockade.
On Monday, Manipur entered the 118th day of the economic blockade. Since November 1, the United Naga Council-- an umbrella organisation of Naga civil society organisations-- has imposed a blockade on NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur) and NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) highways that serve as lifelines for the landlocked Manipur. Because of the blockade, prices of fuels and essential commodities have shot up very high.
