Centre provides Z-security to Muzaffarnagar riots accused Suresh Rana
New Delhi, Feb 18: At a time when Modi government is already facing flak for not doing enough to restore confidence within the minority, this could further invite them the Opposition's ire.
According to reports, the Central Government has rewarded Muzaffarnagar riots accused Suresh Rana with Z security. At present Rana, the BJP legislator from Thana Bhawan had only Y level security.
The BJP leader was provided Z security after he had made the request for the same in August 2014.
It is being believed that Rana had asked for security up-gradation on the premise that his colleague Sangeet Som was also given the same NSG security.
In August 2014, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had granted the security cover to Som after it believed that there was serious threat to Som's life. At that time, Modi Government had faced flak from Oppositions for rewarding a riot accused.

Criticizing Modi Government, BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya said, "We have been saying that the SP and the BJP are together in terrorising the minority community. It is unfortunate that the Centre has given security to Som and Rana on the basis of the state police's report."
