'Ready to face anything for Ayodhya, Ganga and Tiranga's sake', says Uma Bharti

|

Union Minister Uma Bharti on Wednesday said that she will not resign from her post and would face any punishment for the sake of Ganga, Ayodhya and the tricolour. Speaking to the media hours after the Supreme Court order her along with senior BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi to face criminal conspiracy charges, Bharati claimed that there was no conspiracy.

Reacting to the opposition's growing chorus for her resignation, Bharti said there was no need for her to resign. "The party which was behind Emergency and 1984 riots has no right to demand my resignation," she hit back at the Congress. Pushing the nationalist chant, Uma Bharti said that this India belongs to Ram, Ganga and Tiranga. "This country belongs to Ram, Ganga and Tiranga and disrespect to any of these will not be tolerated," she said.

Bharti said that whatever happened during the Babri demolition was not a result of a conspiracy. When asked if she would visit Ayodhya again, the Union minister said that she would visit Ayodhya on Wednesday itself. "I will go there on Wednesday night. I will express my happiness and pride to Lord Ram for the honour I have been given," she said.
