He also appealed to the employees of FCI to wholeheartedly join the countrywide cleanliness drive.
"Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a laudable and robust campaign being launched on October 2 by the NDA government at the initiative of PM Narendra Modi. October 2 is the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi who was not only a votary of peace but also a practitioner of cleanliness in his day-to-day life," Paswan said.
The minister said the government expects its officials to dedicate 100 hours every year to keep their cities and towns clean.
"I am making an earnest appeal to all the employees of FCI and officials of my ministry to join the campaign and keep their homes, offices, neighbourhoods, town and cities pick and span. A clean India will keep its citizens in robust health and also bring tourists in large numbers," he added.
Paswan later attended a Monthly Performance Review meeting (MPR). The meeting was attended by top officials of the organization. The minister also visited the Quality Control (QC) lab and the staff canteen at the FCI Headquqarters.
