Rajya Rani Express derails in UP: FIR against unknown railway officials

Over 10 people received injuries, but no one was severely hurt.

An FIR has been registered on Sunday in connection with Rajya Rani Express train derailment, in which over 10 people were injured. The government railway police registered an FIR in Rampur against railway officials for negligence of duty.

Earlier on Saturday, eight coaches of Lucknow-bound Meerut-Lucknow Rajya Rani Express was derailed near Rampur in Uttar Pradesh at 8.15 am on Saturday. The mishap occurred two kilometres from Rampur Junction railway station and about 100 metres from the Kosi river bridge, resulting in injuries to passengers and rail traffic disruption.

According to sources, over 10 people received injuries, but no one was severely hurt.

Top railways officials, including Moradabad DRM Pramod Kumar immediately rushed to the spot after the incident happened. Several medical units were also pressed into action.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had announced Rs 50,000 compensation for those who are seriously injured and Rs 25,000 for those who received minor injuries. Also, the railways has ordered an inquiry into the incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 each for the injured passengers.
