Rajasthan: Man lynched on suspicion of cow smuggling

Akbar Khan, a resident of Kolgaon in Haryana, and another man were taking two cows to their village through a forest area near Lalawandi village in Alwar district last night, when a group of people severely thrashed Khan, Ramgarh police station SHO Subhash Sharma told PTI.

Anil Beniwal, ASP Alwar, said, "It is not clear if they were cow smugglers. The body has been sent for postmortem, We are trying to identify the culprits and arrests will be made soon."

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje condemned the incident in her tweet.

Last year in April, Pehlu Khan, a dairy farmer from Jaisinghpur village in Haryana, was lynched by cow vigilantes in Behror of Alwar district in Rajasthan. He was returning home after purchasing two cows and two calves from a Jaipur cattle fair.

A year after that incident a protest was held at the Parliament Street in New Delhi, the Bhumi Adhikar Andolan called for a nationwide struggle against the increasing incidents of violence in the name of "cow protection", "vendetta" against all progressive movements and continued "attacks" on Dalits and minorities.
