State capital Shimla got 19.8 mm rain, while picturesque tourist resort Manali experienced 22.6 mm rainfall.

Meanwhile, more than 40 villages were badly affected with the washing away of the 44-year-old Kandrori bridge on the Indora-Damtal road in the floodwaters on Thursday.

However, no was injured in the incident, the police said.

Traffic on the Indora-Damtal road has been diverted through Kathgarh and Malot link roads, Nurpur sub-divisional magistrate Rakesh Prajapati said.

There were reports of link road closure in the interiors of Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi, Kangra and Kullu districts, hampering movement of traffic.

In Shimla town, more than 20 trees were uprooted in the incessant rainfall over the past few days, damaging public and private property.

With continuous rainfall for the past few days, the rain deficit in the state from June 1 to August 12 has been reduced to 13 per cent, said the meteorological office.

A government spokesperson said the Satluj, Beas and Yamuna rivers and their tributaries are in spate in Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur and Sirmaur districts.
