Railway's food quality to improve: Now IRCTC cell to monitor catering in running trains
New Delhi, march 7: There is good news in the offing for Railway passengers who often find train food bad both in taste and quality. Aiming to improve catering facility in running trains, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is likely to introduce a monitoring cell.

Reportedly, this centralized monitoring cell will ensure quality of the food. Apart from this, Railways has also introduced a toll free number, 1800111321 to hear out the grievances of the passengers. Travellers can give suggestions or register a complaint though the toll free number.
According to TOI report, the catering monitoring cell will function in zonal and divisional level centres.
IRCTC senior manager Sandip Dutta was quoted as saying, "Railways has already introduced a defined quality assurance programme under which passengers are to give feedback about the quality of meals served to them on running trains".

Dutta also said that Railways has introduced an interactive voice recording system (IVRS) on select trains for the same.
It is being said all this measures have been taken following after Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu's order. Prabhu has been bombarded with complaint letters regarding food quality in running trains.
