Rahul sounds poll bugle in Madhya Pradesh, promises to waive-off farm loans
The Congress president earlier in the day met families of the farmers who were killed in police firing during last year's protest in Mandsaur.
Launching a blistering attack on the BJP, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that the Congress wants to free Madhya Pradesh from "Shivraj, Modi and the RSS". Gandhi, who was addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur today, also promised that if the Congress is voted to power, then farmer loans would be waived-off within 10 days.
Gandhi accused PM Modi of betraying the farmers and the youth, and asked, "Where are the jobs and Rs 15 lakh you promised people of the country."
"Modi government has betrayed the farmers. Rich industrialists default and flee the country, but farmers are committing suicide due to debt," Gandhi said.
The Congress president earlier in the day met families of the farmers who were killed in police firing during last year's protest in Mandsaur. He said the BJP-led government in Madhya Pradesh 'killed' the farmers.
"They have no time for farmers they are ignoring farmers...The day Congress comes to power in Madhya Pradesh, I promise that farmer loans would be waived within 10 days," he said.
He also trained gun at the Modi government over loan defaulters Mehul Choksi and Nirav Modi. Gandhi said the BJP-led Centre was symphatetic towards 'rich' industrialists and harsh towards farmers.
"PM Modi calls defaulters like Mehul Choksi and Nirav Modi as Mehul ji and Nirav ji...They fled the country after defaulting on crores of Rupees," he said.
He said Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia would work towards welfare of Madhya Pradesh.

"What Modi ji and Shivraj cannot do, will be done by Kamalnath ji and Scindia ji. I am not going to lie to you, if you want to listen to lies then you are in the wrong place," Rahul said.
"I went to meet Narendra Modi ji. I raised the issue of farmers with him. I asked Modi ji to waive off loans of farmer..Modi ji was silent on this. It shows he does not have time for farmers. His government has ignored the farmers," he added.
Asserting that the Congress is concerned towards the plight of the farmers, Gandhi said his party wants to transform Madhya Pradesh and free the state from the clutches of "Shivraj, Modi and RSS".
