The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday lashed out at Farooq Abdullah for pushing for dialogue between India and Pakistan, saying the former J&K chief minister had earlier talked of 'attacking Pakistan'.

Abdullah had said both nations have nuclear weapons and hence an armed conflict is out of question, adding that dialogue is the only way to resolve problems.

Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh

Reacting to this, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh told news agency ANI, "We condemn his statement. We want to tell him when he was the chief minister he talked of attacking Pakistan. Why this 2-faced approach?"

Singh further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was personally monitoring the situation in Kashmir and wants region to develop and people to prosper.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Gopal Baglay had said the international community is on the same page with India on terrorism emanating from Pakistan and on cross border terrorism.

Talking about cooperation between India and the US in effectively dealing with terror, Baglay said the US has taken or proposes to take a number of measures against Islamabad to contain terrorism.

US on Wednesday listed Pakistan among the nations and regions providing "safe havens" to terrorists, saying government did not take any significant action against LeT or JeM.
