Rahul Gandhi calls Union Budget a 'damp squib'
Congress VP Rahul Gandhi reacted to the Union Budget, deeming it anti-poor and anti-farmer
Reacting to the Union Budget, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi claimed that it offered nothing for the farmers and youth of the nation. "We were expecting fireworks but got a damp squib instead," he said.
Reacting to the government's move to bring in transparency to political funding, Rahul Gandhi said that his party would support any step to clean political funding. He, however, claimed that Arun Jaitley's was a poetry filled budget and nothing more. "There is no vision, nothing for the farmer; There is a basic misunderstanding about what MNREGA is," he added.
"There have been accidents. Did he (Jaitley) say anything about rail safety?" Gandhi asked referring to the Railways Budget.
Rahul Gandhi also claimed that the budget won't have any impact on the elections on being asked. Many leaders of the Congress including Manish Tewari and Kamal Nath shared Rahul Gandhi's opinion of the budget. Tewari's biggest complaint was a lack of elaboration on railways.
