Bellary, May 25: Family of Banana vendor Basappa of Bellary district, perhaps best elated when March 2016 PU exam results declared by the board today.

There is a strong reason to be happy for Basappa and his family. PU Pursuing daughter of Basappa, Anita B, secured 585 out of 600 in Arts stream; the marks sufficient to top the table in the state. In a brief telephone conversation with OneIndia Anita tells she expected to be placed herself in the second or third rank.

"I had the expectation of coming at second or third place but seeing myself at first place makes me more happy. All family members, including my father and mother are here with me you can talk to them also," excitingly says Anita.

Anita hails from Kotturu of Kudligi Taluk of Bellary district. Anita setting the examples for many has broken a popular notion that poverty is a hindering factor for accomplishment. Anita's father sells Banana in a bus stand of Kudligi Taluk for livelihood. Anita has not allowed her poverty to come in her way to achieve goals.

"I want to become KAS officer. This is my dream,'' divulges Anita. However, this young girl had stipulated 6 hours a day to read for the examinations. Her score card reflects this- Kannada: 97, Sanskrit: 97, Optional Kannada: 99, History: 96, Political Science: 96, Education: 99. However Anita in First PU scored 92%.

Anita is more keen on saying about support she enjoyed from school and her family without which she could not have reached this milestone. "My brothers supported me a lot. My sister helped me in clarifying doubts."

The school's preparatory examinations helped Anita a lot in measuring her strengths and weaknesses. Basappa has three offsprings in which Anita is the second one. Her elder brother is pursuing his degree.

While Anita's mother in innocent voice expressed her happiness, her Kannada teacher Mallikarjuna said he is proud of his student.
