Pressure, tension in dealing with Sahara case: Justice Radhakrishnan
Justice Radhakrishnan who is set to retire on May 15, reportedly said, "There are matters pending with the court, but the pressure, tension and strain both of us including Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar have undergone is unimaginable. I can't explain. The pressure was reflected on my wife and family. I can't speak much on the Sahara case."
A group of lawyers on Thursday had organised a farewell function in the honour of Justice Radhakrishnan at the India International Centre (IIC) in New Delhi.
However, NCP National Secretary Majid Memon said, "Justice Radhakrishnan should have refrained from speaking on a subjudiced matter. This is a blemish on the justice delivery system that a judge at the apex level is being approached and an attempt was made to put pressure on him."
Former Chief Justice of India Justice K G Balakrishnan, other senior judges and lawyers were present at the legal fraternity function.
Subrata Roy was sent to judicial custody on March 4 by the apex court bench of Justice Radhakrishnan and Justice Khehar for his failure to place before the court an acceptable proposal for securing the investors money.
Dismissing Roy's plea, the apex court bench of Justice Radhakrishnan and Justice Khehar said that there is "no merit and same is dismissed".
On April 21, a bench of Justice Radhakrishnan and Justice Khehar reserved its order on Roy and two other group directors offer to pay Rs 10,000 crore as a part payment of investors money to market regulator, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to secure their release from judicial custody.
