The things Karni Sena is doing to prevent movie halls from screening Padmaavat is nothing but hooliganism. The group, which claims that it is fighthing for Rajput honour, is now looking desperate to assert its importance. The matter over movie Padmaavat is well settled. The Censor Board has cleared it the Supreme Court has barred states from banning it, but yet the Karni Sena is out on streets.

A group of protestors from Rajput Karni Sena created a ruckus and tore the poster of 'Padmaavat' outside a movie hall Telangana.

The protesters allege filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movie hurts the sentiments of the Rajput community as it distorts history of Rajput queen Padmini. Bhansali has denied the charges. A few noted journalists have watched the movie and said that there is nothing in the movie that demeans Rajputs. Even spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar had positive things to say about the movie after watching it.

But no matter what anyone says, Karni Sena is hell bent to create ruckus. If Karni Sena claims that it is doing it for 'honour' then it ought to be noted that the 'hooliganism' they are resorting to is not something any 'honourable' person would approve.

Multiplex owners in Gujarat have decided not to screen the film Padmaavat for fear of vandalism following threats by groups led by the Karni Sena.

Karni Sena and others have formed an umbrella of Gujarat Kshatriya Samaj, which have warned against the release of the film. On Saturday, these fringe groups allegedly blocked highways by burning tyres in Surendranagar, Bhavnagar, and Banaskantha districts.

The Rs 190 crore budget Padmaavat movie is produced by Ajit Andhare and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Owing to the costs mounted on the film by the delay in the release, Box Office India declared the Padmaavat film to be first Bollywood film to exceed Rs 200 crore (US$31 million) in its budget, which makes it most expensive Hindi film of all time.
