In poll bound Karnataka netas find new ways of doling out sops
The Income Tax Department is keeping a close watch on the sops offered by the politicians in Karnataka. The IT department has found that the politicians in the poll bound state are offering freebies online.
It has also been found that sops are being offered in terms of fixed deposits with later maturity dates. The distribution of coupons by the netas has also been found.
The IT department has already seized cash worth Rs 4.13 crore and gold jewellery of 4.5 kg valued at Rs 1.32 crore in Karnataka. While there are reports of cash shortage in some parts of the country, cash seems to be flowing in poll-bound Karnataka.
The vigil at the railway stations has been stepped up as several incidents of cash being transported has been found. The airports and bus stations are also under the scanner of the IT department sleuths.
