PM Modi dedicates first ever All India Institute of Ayurveda on Dhanteras

As per the notification of Ayush Ministry, the intention behind celebration of Ayurveda Day is to significantly boost the confidence of Ayurveda doctors in treating common disease ailments.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday dedicated first ever All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIS) on Dhanteras. The 2nd Ayurveda Day is celebrated on the day of Dhanwantri Jayanti falling on 17th October 2017. The main function is being held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

The Ayurveda Day is being celebrated officially on the Day of Dhanwantri Jayanti (Dhanteras) every year starting from the year 2016.

PM Modi said: "It is very necessary for the expansion of Ayurveda that there is a good hospital with all the facilities connected to it in every district of the country. In this direction, the AYUSH Ministry is working fast and in more than three years, more than 65 Ayush Hospitals have been developed."

PM suggested that there should be an Ayurveda hospital in every district. AYUSH ministry is working in this direction.

"I was happy when I was told that newly constructed toilets in UP have 'Izzat ghar' written on them and not' Shauchalay, said PM Modi.

PM underscored the importance of Ayurveda, saying time has come for a "health revolution" under the aegis of the traditional medicine system and pitched for affordable and accessible healthcare.

The prime minister also urged private players to use part of their corporate social responsibility funds to help strengthen Ayurveda.

"We have seen the IT revolution in last 30 years. Now, time has come for a health revolution under the aegis of Ayurveda. Let's pledge to strengthen, revive Ayurveda," Modi said at the event.

As per the notification of Ayush Ministry, the intention behind the celebration of Ayurveda Day is to significantly boost the confidence of Ayurveda doctors in treating common disease ailments at the primary care as well as at tertiary care including painful conditions. As per the anecdotal source the present market of Ayurveda, including service sector as well as drugs and herbal extracts is about Rs. 20,000 Crores.
