PM bats for Muslim women: Calls reformers to end triple-talaq
I am sure reformers from the Muslim community will come forward and put an end to triple talaq, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday. Seeking to grant equal rights to Muslim women, Modi said that he believes that the reformers from the community will protect women from the ill-effects of triple-talaq.
He was speaking on the occasion of Basava Jayanti at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Do not see this issue as an issue through the political prism, the PM also said.
It may be recalled that the Prime Minister had also raised the issue in his valedictory address at the conclusion of the two-day BJP National Executive in Bhubaneswar recently.
The PM had spoken about social justice and said that the Muslim sisters should also get justice. Injustice should not be done with them. Nobody should be exploited, the PM had also said.
We do not want conflict within the Muslim community over this issue. What we have to do is that if there are any social evils, we have to wake the society up and make efforts to provide justice to them, the PM also added.
