Hardline-Hindutva leader Pravin Togadia, who is facing arrest in the old case, alleged that a plan was being hatched to kill him. Togadia who went missing since 10 am on Monday, has been found in a hospital in Ahmedabad. He was admitted to Chandramani Hospital in Ahmedabad in an unconscious state and his sugar levels were said to be low.

He told media persons, "I am being targeted for a decade old case, there is an attempt to suppress my voice. Rajasthan Police team came to arrest me. Someone told me the plan was being made to kill me in an encounter."

"I will follow whatever the court asks me to do," said Vishwa Hindu Parishat Leader.

A team of Rajasthan Police visited them on Monday to execute an arrest warrant against the Hindutva leader under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the IPC in an old case, but could not find him at his residence. VHP workers laid a siege to the Sola police station, shouted slogans, and blocked traffic on main Sarkehj- Gandhinagar highway demanding that the police immediately locate him.

Early in January, a local court in Ahmedabad cancelled the non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Pravin Togadia and 37 others in a 1996 attempt to murder and rioting case. The NBW was cancelled after Dr. Togadia appeared before the court. Dr Togadia alleged a "conspiracy to put him behind bars" and held that no power could silence his voice. "Why did I not receive summons when the court has issued five summonses in my name so far," Dr Togadia asked.

He said it was a political case and claimed that he was not present when the incident happened and yet he was made an accused.

In October 2003, Ashok Singhal signalled his retirement due to ill health and Togadia was informally appointed as the leader of VHP. The formal appointment as the International Working President (the top executive position) was made in 2011.
