Pics: Nita Ambani spreads smiles in Guptkashi
Rudraprayag, Sept 28: The grief-stricken valley of the Himalayas had a reason to smile and the Reliance empire may have something to be proud of. In a heartwarming attempt to spread smiles across the valley, Nita Ambani, wife of Reliance Industries Limited chairman Mukesh Ambani, and her daughter trekked to reach out to the people of Lwara village, 8 kilometers from Guptkashi.
But she was not alone. An entire relief team of Reliance Foundation reached here to survey the area, console and encourage the people.
"I am really thrilled to see the residents who have been boldly facing extreme hardships," said Nita Ambani.
"If a person like Nita Ambani and others can muster the courage to trek through the difficult track to reach the village to share its residents' woes, why cannot those sitting in Dehradun come here?" asked Anand Singh Negi (55), who is a retired school teacher, expressing his displeasure at the laxity of the authorities during the Uttarakhand floods.
