Petrol price reach 3 -year high
Pradhan said since the Centre’s decision to cut excise duty in October 2017, only four states and a Union Territory have slashed out sales tax or VAT on petrol and diesel.
The prices of petrol and diesel reached new highs on Tuesday. In Delhi, the price of petrol on Tuesday was Rs 73.38 per litre while diesel was Rs 64.22 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol price stayed at Rs 81.17 per litre today - 15 paise more expensive than the previous day.
Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the Centre had reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel By Rs 2 on October 3 when the price of the two fuels was Rs 70.88 a litre and Rs 59.14 per litre respectively.
Pradhan said since the Centre's decision to cut excise duty in October 2017, only four states and a Union Territory have slashed out sales tax or VAT on petrol and diesel.
