The Supreme Court refused to give an urgent hearing to a plea filed by the lawyer, Manohar Lal Sharma, seeking deletion of certain scenes from film Padmaavat.

SC to hear petition seeking deletion of scenes

The film has been passed with a U/A certificate after five modifications and a title change. Earlier, various states government banned the film citing disturbance in law and order, however, the makers knocked on the doors of SC where the ruling came in their favour.

Supreme Court asked the states to lift the ban and rejected their petition to review the decision. Members of some fringe outfits held a protest against the release of Padmaavat in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal where they burnt director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's effigy.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan home minister Gulab Chand Kataria said the government had no alternative but to ensure law and order. However, Supreme Court has now decided to hear another plea banning some scenes on Monday.
