First of all, The protest against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' has been going for the last one year. Sena activists stormed Jaigarh fort in Jaipur while shooting was underway in January 2017. From that day, the protest has spread all over India from Delhi to Karnataka. Rajput Karni Sena President Lokendra Singh Kalvi, who joined Bhartiya Janata Party in 2014, is leading the protest.

The protests continue even after the Supreme Court had last week paved the way for the nationwide release of "Padmaavat", by staying the ban on its screening in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Lokendra Singh Kalvi had called for "public curfew" if Padmaavat is screened and asked theatre workers on Monday to boycott the Rs 15-crore Bollywood movie that he alleges distorts history.
