NSCN(K) terrorist arrested in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Dec 25: In a major breakthrough, based on a secret information the National Investigating Agency arrested one Atoshe Chopey (27) a cadre of NSCN(K), who is the prime accused in the terrorist attack on Assam Rifles personnel at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, Nagaland.

NIA investigators have been closely tracking the group of four absconding accused involved in the shoot out and based on specific inputs developed, Atoshe was tracked to a location near MG Road in Bangalore where he had been hiding using a false identity and working at local lodge with the assistance of his relatives.

Arrest

He was detained from the lodge today and later arrested after confirmation of his identity. During preliminary interrogation, he has confessed to his involvement in the crime.

Atoshe Chopey, hailing from Zunheboto district of Nagaland, is an active cadre of armed wing of NSCN (K), a banned terrorist organization and he was a part of four member team of NSCN (K) which carried out the attack with AK rifles and pistols on an unarmed group of Assam Rifles personnel waiting for a bus at a bus stop in Kohima.

One Assam Rifle personal was killed in the attack and three were grievously injured.
