NRC row: Large number of ‘foreign intruders' residing in Delhi, says Manoj Tiwari; Demands survey
New Delhi, Aug 1: Amid intensifying political debate over the NRC list, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari has written to Home Minister Rajnath Singh demanding a survey in the national capital as there are large number of "foreign intruders" residing in the city.
"Please conduct a survey in Delhi too (like NRC) as a large number of Rohingyas and foreign intruders are residing in Delhi and many of them have also attained Aadhaar and ration cards," Tiwari wrote, as per an ANI report.
This comes barely three days after the government released the first National Register of Citizens (NRC) list in Assam, sparking a major political debate. Nearly 40 lakh people were declared 'outsiders' in the NRC draft released on Monday.
Mamata Banerjee is leading a frontal attack on the Narendra Modi government over the draft of National Register of Citizens for Assam. Banerjee on Tuesday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh over the NRC list and asked the latter for assurance that the Union Government will not harass people.
