Now US refers to PoK as 'Azad Jammu and Kashmir'
While the report made this blunder, it however praised India's efforts to combat terrorism.
The reference to Pakistan occupied Kashmir as 'Azad Jammu and Kashmir' by the US state department has not gone down well with India. The US state department in its "Country Report on Terrorism 2016", released on Wednesday, referred to Pok as "Azad Jammu & Kashmir." India has approached the US over the mention of 'Azad Jammu and Kashmir' and also lodged a protest.
PoK incidentally is used a launch pad for terrorists by Pakistan. 99 per cent of the terrorists from Pakistan are trained in this area and launched into India. Incidentally this is for the first time that the US has made such a reference. On earlier occasions, this area has been referred to as Pakistan administered Kashmir by the US.
