Now, Telugu language mandatory from Class 1 to 12 school students
Class 1st to 12th in Schools in Telangana will have Telugu as a mandatory language subject starting with the next academic year.
Telangana government will bring an ordinance to make Telugu language mandatory from class 1st to 12th in schools across the state from the academic year 2018-19. All schools, including CBSE, ICSE and IB will be brought under the ordinance.
The move comes at a time when other south Indian states, like, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Odisha are debating the "language war" and making all efforts to safeguard their regional language and culture.
