RSS claims Ambedkar was against Islamic 'aggression', endorsed Ghar wapsi

New Delhi, April 10: This could once again invite Opposition's ire to Modi-led BJP government. Reportedly BJP's parent organization RSS is planning to unravel some unknown facts about BR Ambedkar, a visionary Dalit leader.

According to reports, RSS's mouthpieces Organizer and Panchjanya will issue a 200-page bumper issues on Ambedkar. "Ambedkar will be celebrated as a 'purifier' who vehemently spoke against Islamic 'aggression', conversion to Islam, communism and Article 370", an ET report writes.

'Ambedkar supported 'ghar wapsi'

Reportedly RSS has also claimed that a great leader Ambedkar who wrote the Indian Constitution also advocated for 'Ghar wapsi' in past. Talking about the issue, Prafulla Ketkar, Organiser's editor said, "That he converted to Buddhism after Gandhi's death and as per his promise to Gandhiji chose the religion closest to Hinduism after giving a lot of time to Hindu society.

Latest move is another attempt by the right wing party to appropriate greatest leader of the India after Sardal Patel and Mahatma Gandhi.

In run up to Lok Sabha election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had targetted ' Nehru-Gandhi family of "insulting daliton ka devta (the god of dalits)", a reference to Dr B.R. Ambedkar.

"The Congress has given three Bharat Ratnas in its own family, but had chosen to ignore the contribution of Dr Ambedkar for almost 40 years. He was given the Bharat Ratna when the BJP came to power. I belong to the most backward community, and if I am standing here today, it is only because of a person like Ambedkar who allowed the weaker sections of society to move ahead in life", Modi had tweeted on the occasion of his birth anniversary last year.

Recently, it was decided that Bharat Ratna B R Ambedkar's memorial will be built in Mumbai at a place where his last rites were performed.

The tripartite agreement was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi between the Union Textiles Ministry, the Government of Maharashtra and the National Textile Corporation for transfer of 12 acres of land adjacent to theChaityabhoomi in the Indu Mills Compound in Mumbai, a PMO statement said.

"The agreement, signed at the initiative of the Prime Minister, paves the way for resolving the long-pending issue of transfer of land from the National Textiles Corporation to the government of Maharashtra to enable construction of a befitting memorial for Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr B R Ambedkar," the statement said.

Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, passed away on December 6, 1956, and his last rites were conducted at this place.
