Now Naga sadhus back Shankaracharya in his war against Sai Baba, PIL filed in HC
The Naga sadhus responded to calls from Shankaracharya of Dwarka and Jyotir Math, Swami Swaroopanand who has launched a crusade to save the Hindu faith. According to Shankaracharya, Sai Baba was not God and he should not worshipped by the Hindus as he was nothing but a "Muslim Fakir."
The 90-year-old spiritual leader directed the Sai disciples not to chant the name of Lord Ram and not to take a dip in the Ganga for purification. While the new controversy created a fuss in the Hindus, the Muslim devotees of the Shirdi saint remained unaffected by the diktat.
Meanwhile, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed by the Sai Temple authority in the Allahabad High Court against the religious guru. By filing the PIL, Sai saints demanded an FIR against Shankaracharya of Dwarkapeeth Swaroopananda Saraswati for hurting religious sentiments.
According to the petition, the controversial remarks made by the Swaroopanada Saraswati have hurt the religious sentiments of thousands of followers of Sai Baba, hence legal action should be taken against the Shankaracharya. The court is expected to take up the case on July 04.
