Now, a drain in Hyderabad spews toxic froth
Earlier this month, fresh froth had emanated from Bellandur lake in Bengaluru and spread on to the streets of the surrounding areas.
After Bengaluru's Bellandur lake made headlines for spewing foam on streets, a drain in Hyderabad's Dharani Nagar is spilling thick toxic foam since Saturday morning.
Toxic waste being released into the drain is reportedly the reason behind toxic foam. The foam is said to be posing a health hazard to the people living in the drain's vicinity.
Earlier this month, fresh froth had emanated from Bellandur lake in Bengaluru and spread on to the streets of the surrounding areas due to the recent rains.
The National Green Tribunal then directed the Karnataka government to submit complete action plan with regard to cleaning and removal of municipal solid waste in Bellandur lake.

The green panel slammed the Karnataka government for not taking appropriate action to clean the Bellandur lake and said it was not satisfied with the answers given by different authorities in relation to compliance of its directions.
The NGT also raised questions as to why an action was not taken to block the entry of sewerage water despite repeated reminders from the State Pollution Control Board.
