Now, Bengaluru will be protected by mounted police
Here are the photos of Bengaluru's mounted police force.
Police personnel mounted on horses can now be spotted in Bengaluru as the city gets a four-member mounted squad to patrol the streets.
The Bengaluru police are also planning to have a full-fledged horse mounted police company aimed at ensuring quick and effective response to citizens in public spaces. Mysuru police already use mounted police to help in crowd control and traffic management in the city.
Mounted patrols came into existence in about 1800's in England and then were adopted in America. Even to this day, mounted troops are used for patrolling in Canada and several counties of the United States.
In Bengaluru, these mounted policemen will patrol Commercial Street, Brigade Road and Cubbon Park from 3 pm to 9 pm.
