Nothing wrong with the idea of Hindu Rashtra: Yogi Adityanath
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sparked off a controversy after he said that there was nothing wrong with the idea of 'Hindu Rashtra'. Adityanath claimed that he was working for the development of Uttar Pradesh and everyone in the state but he did not think that there was anything wrong with the idea of 'Hindu Rashtra'. His comments backing Hindu Rashtra were made in an interview to Doordarshan.

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister is said to have cited the Supreme Court's order stating that Hinduism was a way of life. "It helps our people bring in peace. If Hindu Rashtra improves our life, there is no problem in accepting it," Adityanath was quoted as saying.
His statement sparked off a debate on the sensitive topic with the many accusing him of imposing his ideology while being the in the office of chief minister. "Adityanath may say anything on Hindu Rashtra but India has rejected it. It is his personal view," said Shahid Siddiqui.
