No one responsible for my death, Jawan wrote in diary
A diary recovered from the barrack of Lance Naik Roy Mathew stated none should be blamed for his death. The jawan allegedly committed suicide after a sting operation showed him complaining about his seniors.
The diary was recovered from an abandoned barrack in Nashik's Deolali cantonment where Mathew was found hanging. He states in the diary that none should be blamed for his death.
The note which was written in Malayalam was translated by the police. The same has now been sent for forensic analysis to find out if it was Mathew who had written the same or it had been planted.
The note also details the events that led up to his suicide. He speaks about being approached by a lady who asked him about the sahayak systtem in the army. He says that he spoke to the lady casually. He also writes that he was taking the extreme step as he feared punishment. I would prefer death rather than being punished, he also wrote in the diary.
His family members have refused to believe that it was a case of suicide. They have sought for a second autopsy to ascertain if he had really committed suicide or not. The family members had even refused to receive the body while insisting on a second autopsy.
