No separate VVIP lanes at toll plazas: UP govt
The decision comes after a strong criticism from the opposition for making such a provision in an advisory issued on July 13.
The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Government has revoked its decision to provide a dedicated VVIP lane at the toll plazas for lawmakers in case of heavy traffic and waiting time.
The decision comes after a strong criticism from the opposition for making such a provision in an advisory issued on July 13.
A letter by Additional Chief Secretary Sadakant to all district magistrates and divisional commissioners states no separate lane at the toll plazas will be constructed and that same rules would be applicable to all citizens.
"The previously issued advisory stands modified," the letter said.
The Congress had earlier lashed out at the BJP-led government in the state over July 13 advisory and said that instead of providing separate lanes to emergency vehicles, like ambulances, the government was doing it for politicians.
