BJP President Amit Shah is presented a mace by party workers on his arrival at the party headquarters in New Delhi on Sunday after the party's win in Maharashtra and Haryana polls.
Chandigarh, Oct 20: No Muslim MLA in Maharashtra as well as in Haryana is likely to get a cabinet berth in the upcoming government. The prime reason for the same is that none of Muslim candidate's of the BJP has won in both the states.

The BJP has won 47 seats in 90-member Haryana Assembly while emerged as the single largest party in Maharashtra but none of its Muslim candidates have won from their respective constituencies.

Three Muslim MLAs, two from INLD and one Independent, were elected to 90-member Haryana Assembly.

Zakir Hussain of INLD won from Nuh assembly constituency and defeated his nearest Congress rival by a margin of 32,796 votes.

Another Muslim candidate from INLD has been elected from Ferozpur assembly. Naseem Ahmed, defeated Congress' Mamman Khan, by a margin of 3245 votes.

Rahish Khan is the sole Independent Muslim candidate to have been elected to Haryana assembly. Khan defeated his rival Mohammed Ilyas from Punhana constituency by a margin of 3,141 votes.

Since, BJP will form a government in Haryana on its own hence, there is no possibility of any Muslim to get a place in the cabinet.

In Maharashtra, friend-turned-foes BJP and Shiv Sena will leave their bitterness aside and form an alliance in the state. In this case as well, the state is not going to have a Muslim minister since none of the elected members of these two parties are Muslim.

As per Bhuvendra Tyagi, senior journalist based in Mumbai, there is a large population of Muslims in Maharashtra and it will be sad to see that there won't be a single Muslim Minister in the cabinet. Tyagi feels that the BJP should have given tickets to more Muslim candidates instead of fielding just one Muslim candidate, Pasha Patel Osa, in the state.
