Non-veg food not banned in the campus: IIT Bombay clarifies
IIT Bombay on Sunday clarified that the Institute has not banned non-veg food in the campus, as reported by few publications.
In a statement issued by IIT read,''A letter was issued to the caterer of a cafeteria atop Civil Engineering Dept. for purely health & safety reasons as he was serving stale food.''
It was earlier reported that IIT-Bombay institute has banned non-veg food in the cafeteria. The circular released by the institute authorities tells students and mess authorities that non-veg is strictly banned and such items should also not be served in the cafeteria.
Apart from the non-veg food ban, the institute also instructed students not to indulge in unwanted parties and other gatherings in the cafeteria space in the late evenings.
The institue had also instructed the students to use separate plates for non-vegetarian food in the hostel mess of IIT-Bombay.
