Nirbhaya gangrape case: Juvenile to get Rs 10,000 to begin life as a tailor?

New Delhi, Dec 15: The juvenile convict in the infamous Delhi gangrape case of Nirbhaya on Dec 16, 2012 is all set to walk free by Sunday, Dec 20.

Delhi government's department of Women and Child Development (WCD), is planning to give him one-time financial grant of Rs 10,000 and a sewing machine so that he can so that he can rent a tailoring shop.

If Delhi High Court intervenes, then his release may face a red signal. Nirbhaya's parents have expressed their opposition on juvenile's release.

According to intelligence bureau assessment, there were reports that the 20-year-old juvenile was radicalised during his stay in the juvenile rehabilitation centre.

Juvenile's financial family background is said to be under acute poverty. His father is mentally-disturbed and his mother is in the state of shock, ever-since he committed the dastradly act.

On the ill-fated night of Dec 16, 2012, a 23-year-old paramedical student was brutally gangraped by 6 people inside a moving bus when she was returning home, along with a male friend, after watching a late night movie show in Munirka.

The six accused were out on a joy ride when they picked up Nirbhaya ( a name coined for her by the media) and her friend. They later tied and beat the friend up and raped Nirbhaya before throwing her out of the bus along with her friend.

After battling for life and justice, Nirbhaya left for a better world on Dec 29, 2012, while undergoing treatment at a Singapore hospital.
