Nirankari mission head Baba Hardev Singh dies in road accident in Canada
New Delhi, May 13: Chief priest of Nirankari sect, Baba Hardev Singh who is also known as Nirankari Baba has passed away.
Reports say that 62 year old singh died in a car accident, which took place in Canada's Montreal.
As per news reports, series of spiritual meetings were shceduled to be held in Toronto next month and baba was there for the same.
A statement released on the behalf of Sant Nirankari Mandal said, "With profound pain and sorrow, this is to inform all that His Holiness Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj has merged into this Almighty God. He was travelling in a car in Canada which met with a serious accident at about 5.00 am (IST) today".
On Twitter, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain also confirmed the news. "Baba Hardev Singh's demise is a loss to the nation. He was doing a lot of service for the people", one of his tweets read.

Born to Gurbachan Singh and Kulwant Kaur on February 23, 1954, spritual guru Hardev Singh joined the Nirankari Sewa Dal as its primary member in 1971.
After his father Gurbachan Singh's assassination in 1980, he became head of the sect. Baba Buta Singh had established Nirankari Mission in 1929.
