The three persons Mehboob, Amzad Khan and Zakir Hussain are now being questioned by the NIA for their external links.

The first round of investigation that was conducted by the Odisha police learnt that these persons could have had external links.

The NIA which is already probing a case pertaining to the ISIS module in India wants to find out if these persons had any link.

Multi pronged probe:

The NIA says that there are various aspects to this probe. First they want to ascertain if these persons had any external links.

Secondly the NIA would want to find out if they had any plans on carrying out terror attacks in India. During the probe it was found that these persons had robbed banks in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana.

Further it was found that following the first bank robbery in Uttar Pradesh they sent the money to the Ranchi module of the SIMI.

Interestingly this was the same module which orchestrated the Patna terror strike in which Narendra Modi was the target.

The NIA says that several youth have been found to be leaning towards the ISIS.

The preliminary round of investigations do suggest that these youth too wanted to go to Syria and join the ISIS. We are still probing into this aspect, NIA officials informed.
