NIA prepares list of absconding NSCN(K) terrorists
New Delhi, Nov 25: The National Investigating Agency has prepared a list of NSCN(K) operatives which it proposes to arrest in a bid to stop the movement from becoming a further menace.
The NIA while dealing with the case involving a firing incident at the Indira Gandhi Stadium at Kohima, Nagaland on March 26 2015 has said that their probe has revealed the involvement of several absconding persons.
In a chargesheet filed in this case, the NIA says that Ministry of Home Affairs directed them to take up the investigation. The case investigation has revealed involvement of other absconding accused persons belonging to NSCN (K). The investigation is being continued into the case to arrest them.
The chargesheet filed before the Special Court, Dimapur charged Ranjit Thapa alias Karan, Khekaho Rochill [Self-styled Finance Secretary of NSCN (K)] and Kisheto Ayem [Self-styled Major, town commander Kohima of NSCN (K)] for committing of offences under sections 120-B read with 302,307,326 of IPC, sections 4 & 5 of Explosive Substances Act, section 25 (1) (B) of Arms Act and section 16,18,20 & 23 of UA (P) Act.
On 26.03.2015 at, a firing incident took place at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, Nagaland in which four personnel of Bravo Company of 19th Battalion Assam Rifles were injured in this attack by cadres of NSCN (K). A case was registered at PS (North) Kohima, Nagaland registered the FIR No. 0029/2015 dated 26.03.2015.
The NIA which is probing a bulk of cases in the North East has found the NSCN(K) to be the most problematic. It leader, S S Khaplang who recently broke a cease fire pact with the government has refused to be part of any peace talks with the government of India.
Recently the NSCN(K) was declared a terrorist outfit. The NIA officials who have prepared a list of accused have indicated that they would cooperate further with Myanmar in order to nab these persons. Khaplang too is believed to be hiding in Myanmar.
