NIA officer shot dead in Uttar Pradesh
Bijnor, April 3: An officer of the National Investigation Agency was shot dead at Bijnor Uttar Pradesh late on Saturday night.
The officer Tanzil Ahmed was returning from a function along with his wife when two persons stopped his vehicle and opened fire.
The officer was part of the NIA wing in Delhi and gone to Uttar Pradesh to attend a function. His wife sustained injuries and has been admitted to hospital.
The reasons behind the attack are still unknown and the local police are probing. It may be recalled that the NIA is also pribing a case at Bijnor relating to the Students Islamic Movement of India.
The case being probed by the NIA relates to a blast carried out by three operatives of the SIMI. Officials say it is too early to conclude if the attack was connected to the Bijnor SIMI case.
