New Delhi, Oct 28: The National Green Tribunal today stayed the construction of the steel flyover in Bengaluru for four weeks.
While staying the construction, the Southern Bench of the NGT also issued notices to the Bengaluru Development Authority and Karnataka State Pollution Control Board.
The petition was filed by the Citizen Action Forum. The petitioner claimed before a Bench comprising Justice M S Nambiar and expert member PS Rao that the project would result in the felling of 800 trees. The petitioner sought that the project be stalled.

The project has been a contentious one since the day it was announced. The project is coming up between the Basaveshwara Circle and Hebbal in Bengaluru. The cost of the project is Rs 1,791 crore and the BDA proposes to construct a 6.72 kilometre long 6 lane steel flyover.
