New IB, R&AW chiefs are experts on Kashmir and Balochistan
New Delhi, Dec 18: The government on Saturday appointed new chiefs to the Research and Analysis Wing and the Intelligence Bureau. Anil Kumar Dhasmana an expert on Balochistan will take charge as the R&AW chief on January 30. The 1981 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IPS officer is an expert on Balochistan, counter terrorism and Islamic affairs. His appoint comes at a time when the Union Government has raised the issue of Balochistan to counter the narrative by Pakistan.
Dhasmana who succeeds Rajinder Khanna is also an expert on Pakistan and Afghanistan. He has served at London, Frankfurt apart from handling the SAARC and Europe desks. An officer with the Research and Analysis Wing told OneIndia that Dhasamana's appointment comes at the right time. His expertise especially on Balochistan and Afghanistan is crucial at this moment. India has been taking keen interest on both these issues and Dhasmana is the right choice for the job.
An expert on Kashmir:
The government also appointed Rajiv Jain as the new chief of the Intelligence Bureau. The Jharkhand cadre IPS officer, Jain is an expert on Kashmir affairs. He is currently serving as the Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau and will take over from Dineshwar Sharma on January 1.

Intelligence Bureau officials say that Jain is an expert on Kashmir affairs. He has also served as the head of the IB's Kashmir desk. His expertise would be crucial at this time considering the unrest that rocked the Valley. With him at the helm of affairs, there would be a different approach the Kashmir issue, the officer also said.
Jain has served as the Intelligence Bureau chief at Delhi and Ahmedabad. He is a recipient of President's Police Medal. He along with Dhasmana will have a tenure of two years.
