New Delhi, Nov 22: The National Commission for Women has asked the Goa police to file an FIR (First Information Report) against Mr Tarun Tejpal immediately as an FIR is the first step toward filing formal charges.

However, the journalist has not filed a police case yet, but had sent a mail to Tehelka's Managing Editor, Shoma Chaudhury relating the entire story. The Goa police has sought a copy of the e-mail.

Going further, according to NDTV, it said that Ms Chaudhury and Tehelka should have informed the police earlier. Now, they have asked the 5-star hotel, where the incident happened, to preserve the CCTV footage for investigations. The case has been handed over to the Crime BTanch of Goa police.

Following huge public outcry, the organization was forced to set up a commission to investigate the matter. Nevertheless, special request for the same came to the Goa police from the NCW. Meanwhile, Tarun Tejpal stepped down from his post for 6 months and wrote an apology to the girl.
